WebQuest Activity

A WebQuest is an "inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet."

Bernie Dodge and Tom March are the leaders in this exciting curriculum area.

EXPLORATION:

Explore the following sites. Some connect to each other. Make sure you:

  1. Read about what WebQuests are and how they are created.

  2. Look at a minimum of 5 WebQuests to get a feel for what they look like.

ASSIGNMENT:

  • Develop a Webquest activity that makes use of the Internet and/or the WWW capabilitities. 
  • The Webquest should be specific and relevant to your classroom curriculum.
  • Develop a step by step Webquest following models such as, those presented in the examples presented in class during the webquest activity.
  • Your Webquest should be written so that other teachers could pick up this Webquest and use it in his or her classroom. You should bring one copy of a word processed Webquest  to class for the instructor. For your classmates, convert your file to a text file, name your file your last name and qt (ie.arrigoniqt.txt)
  • Attach your Webquest to a message and email it to your classmates via the listserv or via the group email list.
  • Advanced students may submit the Webquest as a web site and send the URL to classmates.  Students may be asked to present this Webquest to the class.
